Hot Stone Massage
Whilst the modern Hot Stone Massage treatment as we know it was founded in Arizona, hot stones have traditionally been used for both practical and healing purposes by many cultures, for many thousands of years and all over the world.
The hot stones are volcanic basalt in origin. The powerful heat transferance ability of the stones promotes a meditative, sedative effect; both calming and deeply relaxing. During the treatment, the heat is conducted by blood circulation from the surface layer of the skin to deeper layers of muscle and tissue. The heat also increases the rate of circulation for both blood and lymphatic systems bringing about an increase in cellular metabolism. This increases the rate at which fresh nutrients and oxygen are brought to the cells and tissues whilst also increasing the rate at which blood and lymph is detoxified. As the treatment progresses, the heat penetrates deeper into muscle tissues and joints increasing flexibilty of both joints and muscles.
Hot stone massage goes beyond the physical experience of typical massage and enters into deeper dimensions of relaxation, health and well-being. The warmth of the heated stones penetrates deep into muscle and tissue to balance the nervous system like no other treatment. Described as pure bliss, this massage is considered to be 10 times more effective than normal massage.

Reiki
The word Reiki is Japanese and can simply be translated as ‘universal energy’ or ‘universal life force’. It is a natural healing energy that is activated by the practitioner’s intention. The practice of Reiki is an original method of healing, developed by Mikao Usui in Japan, early in the 20th Century.
Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy – known as ‘prana’, ‘chi’ or ‘ki’. Acupuncture, Tai Chi, Yoga and Shiatsu are also based upon the free-flow of this energy in a person. Scientists now know that this ‘universal energy’ does exist in the universe, and indeed everything in the universe is actually made from this energy. Reiki itself is a warm and loving energy. Reiki is not a religion and there is no requirement for any belief in any religion or spiritual creed, or even in Reiki itself for Reiki to work – Reiki works anyway, whether or not you believe in it.
Reiki is a non-invasive therapy whose aim is to treat holistically and to restore homeostasis - the body’s natural ability to balance and heal itself. Reiki is a gentle yet powerful complementary therapy that may be used with confidence alongside orthodox healthcare. It is a wonderful way to expand the range of treatment options available.

What is a Reiki treatment like?
A Reiki treatment is like finding serenity and peace...a blissful experience. It starts by the recipient lying down on a comfortable therapy couch, covered by a lovely cosy blanket, in a peaceful and supportive environment. You will remain fully clothed but you will be asked to remove your shoes and glasses; perhaps loosen tight belts. There will usually be gentle soothing music playing in the background to help produce a state of deep relaxation; you can close your eyes and drift away…
The therapist will gently place her hands upon or above you, non-intrusively, in a series of positions - usually from the head and working down to the feet. Holding the positions for a few minutes allows healing energy to flow into you, enabling your energy system to balance itself, release stress and promote your body’s natural ability to heal itself.
The treatment takes about an hour, sometimes a little more. As the treatment progresses, you might feel warmth or heat, or tingling from the practitioner’s hands; sometimes coolness, maybe nothing at all; just deeply relaxed. Some people fall deeply asleep. Other sensations may include seeing coloured lights or images; perhaps you might feel as though you are floating. Sometimes, emotional releases occur - laughing or perhaps tears. This can be either during or after the treatment and is a very positive part of the healing process - you will feel much better afterwards. All this is normal and perfectly OK. Reiki will only work for the person’s highest good and therefore can do no harm.
Reflexology
A specialised form of compression massage, applied to the feet with the fingers and thumbs. Every part of the body has its corresponding reflex point on the feet. By working over the reflex areas on the feet, imbalances in the energy pathways may be detected. Reflexology can help to rebalance the body as a whole.

Hopi ear candles
35 mins £20.00
Hopi Ear Candling, or Thermo Auricular Treatment, is a wonderfully relaxing and beneficial treatment that is used by many people as a safe, gentle alternative to syringing wax build up from the ears. The treatment consists of candling to each ear in turn, followed by a pressure point massage to specific points on the face and finally a relaxing massage to the face and head. Both the pressure point and face/head massage work to ensure the maximum benefit is derived from the effects of the ear candles by further assisting the drainage of sinus, mucous and earwax from the head.
The treatment stimulates the peripheral flow of blood to the head and neck, increasing the supply of oxygen and nourishing nutrients to the tissues; it stimulates and improves lymphatic drainage and metabolism to the head and neck and so stimulates the immune system.
Hopi ear candling may be useful for the following conditions: Snoring - Labyrinthitis - Sleep Apnoea - Sinusitis/Rhinitis - Excessive or compacted earwax - 'Glue' ear - Patulous Eustachian Tube (PET) - Colds and Flu - Headaches and Migraine - Tinnitus - Meuniere's Disease - Neuralgia of Facial Nerve - Blocked Tear Duct - Loss or reduction of smell - Swimmer's or Surfer's ear - Flying or Diving pressure problems - Motion Sickness - Vertigo and Dizziness - TMJ (jaw joint) dysfunction - Tense Neck Muscles - Disturbance to lymphatic system.
